Many of us are puzzled over the term Anime and Manga. However, this two terms are very simply defined by fans all over the world. With the definition and the attractive art of Anime and Manga, this Japanese culture has began to swoop over the countries making it's mark on the States prominently and Europe. Asia alone has been affected a long time ago. Many countries has their own manga production and especially in Asia some time ago.

Anime basically means Japanese Animated Stories. This might define this term too easily, but it's to keep the simplicity of this topic. Manga means Japanese Comics. However, this term's actual meaning is something else but this would do fine in describing Manga.

Eastern Manga Art

Western Comic Art Then many would compare the successful and long comic art of the West with the manga art of the East. Actually the comics from the West like Spiderman, Batman, etc can also be termed manga in their own terms. However, the big difference in these two is that the depth of the story and development. Usually western comics have the usual good guy vs bad guy stuff thrown in with a few romantic plot as well. Eastern manga however, concentrate more on the character development and deep storyline. Reading a manga thoroughly can actually put a reader in the shoes of actually participating in that fantasy world, seeing the characters grow and mature as the story proceeds.

Also, we can take a look at the directed audience of this two different types of comics. For example, western comics are targeted mostly at the young male readers where manga is targeted at the very wide range of readers. This will be discussed later though since Manga has so many different types which are targeted at different audience.

Also the art is totally different for both types. In western comics, guys and girls are drawn with the perfect anatomy and each have a special power at least. In mangas, these are omitted and this put a realistic feel to the story as well. Also not all mangas are dealing with special powers as most deal with the problems of our everyday life, another realistic feel to it. However, western comics do have their attractiveness in terms of some complicated plots as well.
